CALL FOR APPLICATION:

The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) is a flagship policy initiative of the government of Ghana. NEIP is part of the technical implementation partners of the component 3 of the Ghana Economic Transformation Project (GETP) which is Accelerating Entrepreneurship and SME growth and supporting entrepreneurship and SME growth in non-resource-based sectors, addressing specifically the limited development of the SME and entrepreneurship support ecosystem, including early stage financing.

As part of this component, NEIP is calling for applications from eligible Incubation hubs, Innovation hubs or Accelerators to apply for a grant support to selected Hubs to carry out business Incubation/ acceleration programs for start-ups and SMEs.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

OBJECTIVE

The Objective of the NEIP Hubs Acceleration Grant Programme is to support selected entrepreneurship Incubation/innovation hubs to carry out business incubation and acceleration programs for start-ups and build the capacity of the Hubs as well.

SCOPE

This call for application is being done in the context of ecosystem strengthening with targeted support to incubation hubs capacity, resourcing, implementation, and sustainability. The scope of this grant call is in two folds (1) to support and build the capacity of the Hubs through the Benchmarking exercise and (2) to designing and implement a one-year Acceleration programme to improve the business systems of selected 20 selected start-ups. This Call is opened to all the Incubation Hubs in the Ghanaian Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem to apply for a grant support of up to $200,000.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Must be legally registered in Ghana.
  • Ownership must be 100% Ghanaian
  • Must have operated as an Enterprise Support Organization in Ghana for at least three (3) years
  • Core expertise in Entrepreneurship Support and business acceleration. Demonstrated experience in designing and building substantial entrepreneurship support programs, from the design phase to final implementation in Ghana.
  • Must be able to present a qualified and competent team of Business Development Experts, Mentors, Trainers, etc. The team should have relevant academic qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate standard business practices such as governance, bookkeeping and accounting, annual audited financial statements, tax compliance, etc.
  • Must be ready to contribute in-kind resources such as staff time and physical locations to the program
  • Must have adequate space to host the intended program for start-ups.
  • Show Traction of Previous Work Experience with detailed Profile
  • Must Submit a two-year financial report.
  • Must submit a one-year Acceleration Programme concept design for start-ups.

NB: PLEASE KINDLY CHECK THE EXCLUSION LIST BELOW SINCE IT WOULD BE USED AS PART OF THE ASSESSMENT

  1. Any activities involving conversion of natural habitats/ecologically sensitive areas and/or damaging to national monuments, non-replicable cultural properties
  2. Production or trade in any product or activity deemed illegal under host country laws or regulations or international conventions and agreements.
  3. Production or trade in alcoholic beverages including country made liquor.
  4. Gambling, casinos and equivalent enterprises.
  5. Trade in wildlife or wildlife products regulated under Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species
  6. Production or trade in radioactive materials.
  7. Production or trade in or use of unbounded asbestos fibers
  8. Purchase of logging equipment for use in cutting forest.
  9. Production or trade in pharmaceuticals subject to international phase outs or bans.
  10. Fishing in the marine environment using electric shocks and explosive materials.
  11. Goat/cattle rearing dependent on forest resources
  12. Production or activities involving harmful or exploitative forms o f forced labor harmful
  13. Child labor
  14. Commercial logging operations for use in primary tropical moist forest
  15. Production or trade in products containing Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
  16. Production or trade in ozone depleting substances subject to international phase out.
  17. Production or trade in wood or other forestry products from unmanaged forests.
  18. Production, trade, storage, or transport o f significant volumes of hazardous chemicals, or commercial scale usage of hazardous chemicals.
  19. Production or trade in any product or activity deemed illegal under host country laws or regulations or international conventions and agreements.
  20. Production or trade or processing of products involving tobacco (including beedi)
  21. Production or trade or use or storage of dyeing chemicals and dye intermediaries
  22. Production or storage or packaging of inflammable material
  23. Any activities requiring industrial production processes requiring regulatory clearances from Pollution Control Boards
  24. Prone Sexual Harassment work environment
